Professor Juliana Chan heads the Division of Clinical Pharmacology, Department of Medicine & Therapeutics and is appointed as the Director of the Clinical Research Management Office at the Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK). She is also the Director of the Hong Kong Institute of Diabetes and Obesity and serves as Honorary Consultant to the Prince of Wales Hospital and the Hospital Authority.

One of the first Asian investigators involved in large scale multicentre studies in diabetes since 1990s, Professor Chan established the CUHK Diabetes Clinical Trial Centre, one of the most active units in the region. She is a steering committee member of multicentre clinical trials including the ORIENT, EASIE, EXSCEL, ACE to study the effects of novel compounds on clinical outcomes in diabetes. In 2007, she founded the Asia Diabetes Evaluation (JADE) Program which uses logistics, collaborative care and information technology to promote quality improvement and collaborative research, now implemented in 11 Asian countries. Professor Chan is part of the steering committee of diabetes experts who lead the International Diabetes Management Practices study, the largest observational study of adult diabetes care in the developing world.
